The Pastoral Council is a consultative body whose purpose is to assist the Parochial Administrator/Pastor in matters concerning the pastoral life of the Pastorate/Parish. The Pastoral Council assists in identifying and understanding important matters that affect the life of the Pastorate/Parish, gathering the thoughts and ideas of the community and discussing them with the parish priest as together they seek the good of the Pastorate/Parish.
The Council will include eight (8) elected members, up to three (3) appointed by the Parochial Administrator and the Parish Trustees.
To ensure representation of all members of the Pastorate, elections will be held by parish:
Two (2) members will be elected from both St. Olaf (DeForest) and St. Jerome (Columbus)
One (1) member will be elected from each of St. Joseph (East Bristol), St. Thomas (Poynette), St. Patrick (Doylestown), and St. Joseph (Rio)
Nominees must have the following qualifications:
fully initiated (having received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation)
practicing Catholic
at least 18 years old
registered member of the parish
participant in parish worship life, especially Mass and the sacraments
Parishioner may nominate themselves or another member of their parish. Parish employees are not eligible to serve on the Pastoral Council.
Those nominated will be asked whether they accept nomination and, if so, to submit a photograph and some biographical information.
