As students transition into junior high at St. Jerome, academic instruction becomes more rigorous and homework becomes more of a responsibility. Classes are taught departmentally allowing students to experience the gifts of every teacher at a grade level and gives teachers the opportunity to work with students in areas of particular interest and competence. With the cooperation of the public schools, we work toward our main academic goal of preparing our students for high school. We provide a curriculum interwoven with our Catholic faith, which uses the Diocese of Madison’s Curriculum Standards as overall guidance. Our consistently high STAR 360 Assessment scores verify that this is a successful approach to curriculum development and implementation.
Our program not only results in well prepared students, but also many students have the opportunity to move into higher level science or math classes in their freshman year of high school. To compliment academic instruction, the subjects of art, music, and physical education are taught by specialized teachers.
