Volunteer & Service
St. Jerome School relies on the volunteer efforts of our families for all of the exceptional non-academic programs and events that occur during the school year.
Being involved in your child’s school is a win-win proposition. Our school benefits from your time and talents, while you provide an important community service for your children and their peers. You show your child that we are ‘called to serve others” when you volunteer.
ADULT VOLUNTEER POLICY
All volunteers are required to be VIRTUS trained through the Diocese of Madison. Training sessions are available online. Visit the VIRTUS website for step-by-step instructions.
PARENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We have many exciting opportunities for you to volunteer throughout the year. Please consider becoming a volunteer and making a difference in your child’s school.
- Fundraising Events – watch requests for volunteers in the school newsletter throughout the year
- Chaperones – contact your child’s teacher to volunteer to chaperone field trips
- Fundraiser Coordinators – we need volunteers to help coordinate school fundraisers. Contact the school office to sign up.
- H&S Board – a 4-position board with 2-year terms. Please contact the school office or the current H&S president if interested.
- Education Commission – a board of volunteers working with school administrators on policy. Contact the school office to volunteer.
- Athletic Board – a board of volunteers organizing our Athletic program which includes coaches and concessions. Contact the school office to volunteer.
- Athletic Coaches – Our coaches are the efforts of volunteer parents. Contact the current Athletic Director or the school office to volunteer.
- Classroom Helpers – we have volunteers come into the classrooms to assist the teachers with activities and projects. Contact the classroom teacher if interested.
STUDENT SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
St. Jerome School strives to instill and nurture the desire to serve others as Jesus did. Each quarter our junior high students are asked to complete and document a required number of individual service hours. There are many opportunities for service to others. Watch for opportunities to help with parish and school events.
Jesus was the greatest servant and example of service. The hope of St. Jerome School is that our students acquire a life-long love of service through the sharing of their own God-given talents and gifts.
Each summer our parish students have the opportunity to participate in a service mission trip with Love Begins Here. Contact the parish CRE for more details.
